The Uttar Pradesh government has planned to appoint more youth as fire safety officers with the aim of strengthening security and emergency services in the state.
This step has been taken under the Uttar Pradesh Fire and Emergency Services Act, so that safety standards can be ensured in the state.
UP government will appoint 2 lakh youth as fire safety officers
According to the new rules, there are establishments in the state where appointment of fire safety officer is mandatory. These include high-rise buildings, malls, hospitals, hotels etc. If a fire safety officer is not appointed in any establishment, then the concerned officer can impose a fine on that establishment.
In UP, the Yogi government will appoint more than two lakh youth as fire safety officers. After training from the fire department, they will be posted as fire safety officers and fire safety personnel in private institutions.
To become a Fire Safety Officer, candidates must obtain a Diploma or Degree from the National Fire Service College, Nagpur or a State Government recognized Safety and Fire Engineering College.If a candidate is not already trained, then the establishment will have to provide him training from these institutes.
Only then his appointment will be valid. On the instructions of CM Yogi, the department has prepared an action plan.After training, these youth will be given jobs in malls, hospitals, schools and big commercial buildings in the state.
Male or female having minimum qualification and experience as prescribed for different categories of buildings and minimum age 18 years can become Fire Safety Officer after one week orientation/training program at any fire station of their district.
Similarly, any man or woman who has passed Class 10 can become a fire safety personnel after getting 4 weeks training from any fire station or after contributing by being registered as a fire alert/fire volunteer for 2 years continuously.
He said that work is in progress to increase the capacity of the training center in Unnao from 196 to 600 to provide high technical knowledge as well as quality training on modern equipment to the officers and employees of the fire department in order to train interested youth.
The aim is also to establish regional training centers so that the general public and personnel of various companies / organizations can receive high level training.
Deployment will be done in hospitals, malls and schools, qualification should be 10th pass
The ADG said that the ‘Uttar Pradesh Fire and Emergency Services Act-2022’ and ‘Fire Rules-2024’ implemented in Uttar Pradesh have become a model for other states of the country.
Other states are studying this model and are working towards implementing a similar system in their states. On one hand, this initiative of the government will provide employment to the youth of the state and on the other hand, it will make the state more secure, alert and capable of dealing with disasters in time.
With this, Uttar Pradesh will become the first state in the country where employment will be provided to youth by providing them training in firefighting.Fire department ADG Padmaja Chauhan said, as per the wishes of Chief Minister Yogi, an action plan has been prepared to compulsorily deploy fire safety officers and fire safety personnel like security guards in private buildings of the state.
Qualification standards have also been fixed for this.The youth will be given training from one week to four weeks by the department. He said, Uttar Pradesh is the first state in the country to accept the Central Government’s ‘Model Fire Service Bill-2019’ and implement the ‘Uttar Pradesh Fire and Emergency Services Act-2022’.
Under this Act, it is mandatory to deploy fire safety personnel along with trained fire safety officers in private buildings. This state will become the first state in the country to deploy fire safety officers and fire safety personnel in these buildings.After the training, they will be provided a certificate by the department.
Then there will be job opportunities in private buildings of the state like mall/multiplex, hospitals with a capacity of 100 or more beds, non-residential buildings with a height of more than 24 meters, residential buildings with a height of more than 45 meters, industrial buildings with an area of more than 10 thousand square meters.
