The Bhatni-Varanasi section, which is in Uttar Pradesh, is 20 km long between Mau to Dullahpur and is being rapidly doubled. Railway officials said the construction work will be completed by September 2025.
Most of the entire 158 km long railway route has already been doubled. Railway officials said that the introduction of double line will eliminate unnecessary stoppages of trains and improve punctuality.
Currently, two trains from Ballia and Bihar go to Varanasi and Mumbai. This railway line has been doubled for the last several years. The construction work was completed in different phases on every 18 to 20 kilometer area by dividing the railway into sections.
In March 2025, doubling and trial run of 18 km stretch between Dulalpur and Sadat was successfully completed. Now only Mau-Dulhapur section is remaining. The number of railway tracks is being increased and the infrastructure of big and small stations is also being improved.
After doubling, trains will be able to run in one direction only. This will provide better facilities to railway passengers and trains will run on time. When trains of two directions run on the same track, special trains or superfast express have to stop at any station or in between.
Passengers face inconvenience and their time is wasted. Doubling is the solution to these problems. The biggest benefit of this project will be that passengers reach their destination on time. Railway service will also improve. Doubling will reduce traffic on the route, trains will be able to run faster and time will be saved.
