Important steps are being taken to make public transport more robust and easy in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh. The Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (Roadways) has planned to run 70 new mini buses in the city, which will make urban traffic easier and convenient.

These buses will not only provide comfortable travel to the local people at low fares but will also travel on the crowded routes of the city.

Gorakhpur Development Authority and Transport Department together made this plan, which aims to connect every street and locality of the city with public transport. This scheme will especially provide relief in those areas where there is a great need for traffic till now.

Officials said that operation of mini buses will make travel easier for people and will reduce problems like traffic jams and air pollution.

The routes of these mini buses will connect major places of Gorakhpur city and nearby towns. These include:

  • Gorakhpur railway stations
  • Gorakhpur-Fatehpur-Chauri Chaura
  • Gorakhpur-Pipraich-Sahjanwa
  • Gorakhpur-Kushinagar-Padrauna
  • Nautanwa-Maharajganj
  • Campierganj-Sahjanwa, Khajni-Ghughsara
  • PPganj-Campierganj-Chauri Chaura
  • Gorakhpur-Khajni-Ghughsara

This scheme is a big relief for daily commuters, school-college students and working people. These buses will be operated by private transport companies.

The authority ensures that the buses are equipped with modern facilities, such as air conditioning, comfortable seats and digital ticketing system, so that passengers do not face any inconvenience.

Transport experts said, “The need for a systematic public transport system was felt for a long time in Gorakhpur city. The increasing number of private vehicles has increased both traffic pressure and pollution.

In such a situation, the operation of mini buses will encourage people to use public transport instead of private cars.”

This project will also provide employment. With the introduction of new bus routes, conductors, drivers, technicians and other additional staff will be recruited.

This will boost the economy of the city and provide employment to local youth. The government aims to further expand the number of mini buses and routes if the project is successful.
