The Prayagraj district of Uttar Pradesh’s Naini region is currently undergoing a transformation. Here, plans are underway to build a contemporary city. Prayagraj Development Authority (PDA) ‘Nav Prayagam’ has now gathered momentum as part of its ambitious plan.Although this plan was initially put forth in 2010–11, development is currently proceeding at a quick pace.

This plan calls for the construction of a new township on roughly 26 hectares of land, which will eventually house nearly 50,000 people. Township road development has so far been finished at a cost of roughly Rs 7 crore. In addition, additional Rs 20 crore is being spent on water drainage and road construction.

This new location would be completely furnished with contemporary amenities, according to PDA Chief Engineer Kaushalendra Chaudhary. It will have parks, good roads, drainage, cleanliness, and other essentials.

The government has created a unique program for the impoverished and homeless in addition to the wealthy. Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), the Urban Development Agency (DUDA) is responsible for building homes for the underprivileged. In Prayagraj, over 60,000 people have applied for this program thus far.

Over 7,000 individuals were determined to be eligible out of the 14,000 applications that were examined. The number of eligible individuals may rise even more as the screening process continues.

“Those who should receive benefits under the scheme are being identified and they will be given houses soon,” said Pratibha Srivastava, DUDA project director.

26,437 persons in need received homes from the government last year. People’s faith in the government’s plan has grown even more as a result. The Housing Development Council is currently developing a new plotting system in Naini in addition to the PDA.This will enable around 2,000 families to directly get plots of land where they can build their own houses.

In addition, 16–20,000 additional homes may be distributed under the Prime Minister and Chief Minister Housing Schemes. According to Ravi Shankar Dwivedi, the district panchayat raj officer, “eligible beneficiaries are being identified through Gram Panchayats and they will get houses soon.”
