Preparations for the UP Panchayat Election 2025
Preparations for the UP Panchayat Election 2025 are officially underway. The state government has announced the full schedule for how the ward boundaries will be redrawn before the elections take place.
The process will begin with a population survey in villages and end with the final list of electoral wards.
Here’s everything you need to know about what’s happening and when.
Step 1: Population Survey in Villages (July 19–22)

The first step in the process is collecting up-to-date population data from all villages in the state. This will happen from July 19 to July 22.
Based on this data, the boundaries of wards at three levels — Gram Panchayat, Block (Kshetra) Panchayat, and District (Zila) Panchayat ,will be decided.
Step 2: Drafting Ward Boundaries
Once the population data is collected, draft ward boundaries will be drawn.
This is especially important in areas where:
- Development block boundaries have changed recently.
- Urban bodies like municipal corporations, municipal councils, or nagar panchayats have been formed or expanded.
- Officials in these areas have been told to prioritize this work and send their reports on time.

Malihabad Block in Lucknow
A case in point is Malihabad block in Lucknow district. After the 2021 panchayat elections, three village panchayats Sarawan, Mujasa, and Firozpur became part of the municipal corporation.
As a result, new ward boundaries need to be drawn first for the Block Panchayat level and then for the District Panchayat.
Important Dates for Ward Delimitation Process
The government has laid out a clear schedule to complete the delimitation work on time. Here are the key dates:
- July 23–28: Draft ward lists for Gram, Block, and District Panchayats will be prepared and published.
- July 29–August 2: Public can submit objections or suggestions on the draft lists.
- August 3–5: Authorities will review and resolve the objections.
- August 6–10: Final ward lists will be published.

Timely and Fair Elections
The main goal is to complete the entire process in a transparent and timely manner, so that the UP Panchayat Election 2025 can take place without delays or disputes.
With a proper plan now in place, the state is moving toward a smooth and organized local election season.
