Uttar Pradesh: On Saturday, April 19, the railway administration took a major action and launched a special campaign to remove encroachments behind the houses adjacent to the western end of Ambedkar Colony on the Maskanwa-Mankapur-Babhanan railway line. In this action, encroachments made on railway land for years were demolished with a bulldozer.

The railway team started preparing for the action from Saturday morning itself. As soon as the operation started, there was chaos. The team demolished the balconies, concrete floors, temporary walls and tin sheds of many houses with the help of JCB machines.Local people also tried to protest, but due to the presence of security forces, the proceedings were completed peacefully.

According to officials, this land is the property of the railway on which illegal construction had been done for years. The railway had issued notices and warnings earlier as well, but it had no effect. Finally, on Saturday, the bulldozer was used and the encroachment was removed.

During this operation, IOW Randhir Maurya, RPF Mankapur in-charge Rampal Singh, GRP Mankapur sub-inspector Ramsamujh, and police from RPF, GRP, Chhapia, Mankapur, Nawabganj and Khodare police stations took the charge with heavy security arrangements.

Railway officials said that such campaigns will continue in future as well so that railway property can be kept safe and there is no illegal occupation in future. The local administration has appealed to the people to stay away from government land and take valid permission before doing any construction.
