UP: Update on Ganga Expressway, work will be done on May 2 and 3

The emergency landing of Indian Air Force fighter planes will be tested on Ganga Expressway in Shahjahanpur on 2 and 3 May 2025. This test will be conducted on the 3.5 km long runway built on Ganga Expressway. Which has been specially designed for the emergency landing of fighter planes.

Aircraft like Mirage 2000, Sukhoi 30, Jaguar and C-17 will be able to land on this runway. This project is an important step towards increasing the security and emergency management capacity of the Uttar Pradesh government.

The construction work of Ganga Expressway is in its final stage, and vehicle operations are likely to begin on it. This expressway is 594 km long and stretches from Meerut to Prayagraj. This will significantly reduce travel time.

Army fighter planes will land on the newly constructed airstrip of Ganga Expressway in Jalalabad, Shahjahanpur on May 2 and 3.With the dates of rehearsal being fixed, police and administrative activities have increased in the runway area.Air Force officials had inspected the airstrip closely. They had instructed to make several arrangements to practice landing of fighter planes there to fulfil strategic objectives.

These include instructions to conduct a campaign to check the presence of any suspicious person in the villages around the runway, to install wire fencing to prevent stray animals from entering, to ensure multi-level security arrangements in the entire area during aircraft landing practice, etc.This project will not only improve traffic but will also strengthen the security and emergency response capabilities of the area.

Preparations on Ganga Expressway in full swing in Shahjahanpur

Ministers of the Uttar Pradesh government and senior officials of the Air Force have recently inspected the site. Officials said that the strength, width and length of the runway have been completely prepared for the landing of fighter planes.

The objective of this test is to strengthen India’s defence system and to test the capability of quick landing of fighter aircraft in emergency situations.In case of war or natural disaster, this expressway will act as a runway. A 3.5 km long runway has been prepared on the Ganga Expressway for this historic test.

Which has been specially designed for the landing of Air Force planes. Heavy planes like Mirage 2000, Sukhoi 30, Jaguar and C-17 Globemaster will be able to land on this runway. Five days ago, the Air Force officials from Bareilly had inspected the expressway.

As per the instructions given by him, the officials of the construction company have started making necessary arrangements within a radius of five kilometers of the airstrip. A five-kilometer long airstrip has been constructed between Chamarpur Kalan and Khandar village.In this, lands of Chamarpur Kalan, Chamarpur Khurd, Chadhokar, Khunta Nagla, Diyura and Piru villages have been taken.
