Due to land acquisition development schemes in various districts of Uttar Pradesh, the purchase and sale of land in many villages has been completely banned.
These steps have been taken with the aim of smooth implementation of development projects, protection of government properties and control of illegal encroachments.
Ban on setting up a new city in Gorakhpur
Its purpose is to implement development plans in a systematic manner and control illegal encroachments. This is causing inconvenience to the affected villagers, but the administration says that these steps are necessary for better infrastructure and facilities in the future.
The Gorakhpur Development Authority has prepared to ban the sale and purchase of land in 24 villages for the new Gorakhpur city proposed for the expansion of the city. Under this project, it is proposed to build a new city on about 6,000 acres.
Under this, it is proposed to build a new city on lgbhg 6,000 acres of land. The administration has banned the purchase and sale of land in the floodplain of Gorakhpur Rapti river.
The registry of 14 villages situated on the banks of Lahasari-Malauli dam has been stopped with immediate effect. After the recommendation of the DM, ADM FR has also informed the Sadar Tehsil and the registry office about this order.
After the matter of illegal plotting in the river flood area came to light, the registration of land between the dam and the river has been banned. The registration of land on the banks of the Herbert Dam was already banned, now the registration of land in the villages on the banks of the Malouli Dam has also been banned.
Registering land in the river’s flood zone and building houses on it causes problems in the flow of the river. This will put a large population of the city at risk of floods.That is why registration of land has been banned in 14 villages of the submergence area.
Ban on sale of land in 14 villages
To stop the rampant unplanned development in the submerged area between Rapti and Rohin rivers, two years ago the administration had imposed a conditional ban on the registration of land in 10 villages, including Domingarh, Narsinghpur Ehtmali, Munderi Chak, Hanuman Chak, Basantpur Ehtmali, Basantpur Khas.
To sell land in these villages, NOC will have to be taken from GDA.It must be mentioned in the NOC that the land being registered is suitable for residential, business and commercial use and there will be no problem in getting the map approved from the authority.
If the land is being acquired for agricultural use then NOC has to be submitted from the concerned section of Irrigation Department, Flood Section, Flood Section Two, Drainage Section.

The lands of the farmers of these villages are also towards the river, which the land dealers are rapidly selling by plotting them. At present more than 50 such plots have been sold.
When DM Krishna Karunesh inquired about illegal plotting and construction of houses during the inspection of the dam in July, it was found that businessmen were selling the land towards the river in villages like Lahasari, Manjharia Bistouli, Kathaur, Senduli-Beduli, Ajwania, Maheva etc. Many people have bought cheap land and built houses.
