UP: Road collapses in Lucknow’s Lalbagh area!

Gorakhpur-Ayodhya Highway's work going on faster, vehicles speed will increase

The road in Lalbagh area of Lucknow caved in, disrupting traffic. This situation, caused by leakage in the sewer pipeline, is the result of the negligence of the Municipal Corporation.

A major accident took place in the Lalbagh area in the heart of Lucknow late on Monday night when the main road leading to Burlington crossing suddenly collapsed. This road is usually very busy and thousands of people pass through this route every day.

The road collapse incident not only disrupted the traffic but also made people worried about their lives and property. According to eyewitnesses, the width of this suddenly formed pit was about 5 feet, due to which the drivers had to face a lot of problems.

Many people could not reach their office or important work on time, while some drivers had to look for alternative routes. The municipal corporation team that reached the spot temporarily filled the pothole after about three hours of effort, but the dust constantly flying from the road and the temporary repairs have created another problem for the people of the area.

Passers-by and shopkeepers expressed their displeasure over this and sent a complaint to the Jalkal department. Jalkal department general manager Kuldeep Singh said that the incident happened at night, when water started leaking from the sewer pipeline.

The 8-inch diameter pipeline was passing under the road and due to the leakage, the soil got wet and a major portion of the road caved in.

He said that the team that reached the spot immediately started digging and repairing the leakage. But he also admitted that hammering during the road construction work going on nearby caused vibrations, due to which a part of the weak road collapsed.

This accident has also raised questions on the preparations of the Municipal Corporation and the drainage system. At the same time, the traffic police also had to temporarily divert the route.
