A big gift is soon going to take shape for the citizens of Prayagraj city and the people visiting here. The state-of-the-art bus port to be built in the Civil Lines area will no longer be just a transport hub, but it will emerge as a modern terminal equipped with airport-like facilities.
This bus port will be fully completed in the next two years and its construction will give a new identity to the public transport system of the city.
Bus port will be equipped with state-of-the-art facilities
The new Civil Lines Bus Port is being developed in collaboration with the Smart City project and the state government.Under this, passengers will get modern facilities like airport,Like air-conditioned waiting room, automated ticket counters, digital information display, clean toilets, drinking water facility, e-vehicle charging station, food court and CCTV surveillance for security, this bus port is being designed in such a way that it is not only convenient for the passengers.
Technologies such as solar energy-based power supply and rainwater harvesting will also be incorporated. The redevelopment work of the Civil Lines bus station will begin next month. There are plans to develop an airport-like bus port within the next two years.
A multi-storey building will also be constructed in the bus station premises. This building will have facilities like hotel, restaurant, banquet hall, food court, shopping complex etc. A picture of how the bus station will look in future has also been released. Civil Lines Bus Station is the largest bus station in Prayagraj division.
Due to this, about 850 buses operate from here daily. Now, due to redevelopment work at the bus stand, buses will not operate from here for about two years. In such a situation, the roadways has marked some places for the operation of buses and sent them to the district administration.
Regarding this, Regional Manager Ravindra Kumar Singh says that five places have been selected for the operation of buses. These include Vidya Vahini, KP, Printing College, Nehru Park, Leader Road Bus Station. Its list has been sent to the District Magistrate Prayagraj.
Employment and economic development will get strength
A decision on which location in the city the buses operating from the Civil Lines and Zero Road bus stations under the redevelopment programme will operate from is expected to be taken on Monday.
The regional manager of UP Roadways Prayagraj has selected five possible locations for operating the buses and has sent the list to the District Magistrate Prayagraj.
Now the district administration will take further action in this matter. Civil Lines Bus Station is spread over 4.16 acres. Under the Public Private Partnership (PPP), the responsibility of its renovation in the year 2023 was handed over to B-Together, which is a brand of Omaxe Company.
The company had got the soil tested last year itself to construct a multi-storey building in the bus station premises.The special thing is that the redevelopment work of the bus station was to be done before the Maha Kumbh, but in view of the Maha Kumbh, it was said that it would be done after the fair ends.
At present, the complete blueprint of the 13-storey building has been prepared. The development authority has approved the construction plan of this bus port to be built at Civil Lines bus station. The construction plan of the bus port has been approved.
The construction of the bus port will start within a month. During this time, the buses running from here will be operated from some other place in the city. Now the company will start the construction of the bus station here.
This bus port will have facilities like AC waiting lounge, underground parking, charging station for electric vehicles etc. The bus station will also have facilities like Divyang friendly counter, restaurant, hotel, retail shop, AC waiting room, VIP lounge etc.
The design has been prepared in such a way that people who have to catch a bus can reach the bus port directly and people who have to go to hotels, restaurants, banquet halls, food courts or shopping complexes can reach the respective places without any hindrance.For this, many lifts and escalators will also be installed here.
