Construction of a new ₹4 crore bridge between Amethi Rae Bareli is now underway. With a wider, stronger design, the project promises smoother travel and reduced congestion on the busy Maharajganj-Inhauna route.
In a much-needed infrastructure upgrade, construction has begun on a new bridge connecting Amethi and Rae Bareli districts in Uttar Pradesh.
The project, pegged at ₹4 crore, aims to replace the dilapidated old bridge on the Maharajganj-Inhauna route a daily pain point for thousands of commuters.
For years, locals had to brave traffic snarls and safety hazards caused by the narrow, damaged structure.

But now, thanks to the Public Works Department (PWD) and a green signal from the state government, change is finally underway.

Why This Bridge Matters
Every day, over 20,000 commuters cars, bikes, buses, and trucks travel through this key corridor. The route directly links Amethi’s Semrauta, Inhauna, Tiloi, and Mohanganj regions.
The old bridge near Cair village, built over the Naiya drain, had weakened severely over time.
Its narrow 6-meter width couldn’t handle the volume of heavy and light vehicles passing through. The result? Daily bottlenecks and growing public frustration.
A Wider, Safer, and More Efficient Commute on the Horizon
With ₹4 crore in funding now secured, the PWD has kicked off full-scale construction. And it’s not just a patch-up job—the entire structure is being rebuilt with modern specifications.

The new design expands the bridge’s width from 6 meters to 7 meters, a critical improvement that will help ease traffic flow and enhance safety.
Commuters can expect smoother rides and shorter travel times once the work is done.

PWD’s Executive Engineer Mahipal Singh confirmed that the department aims to complete the project within six months.
Once finished, the upgraded bridge will be better equipped to support growing traffic demands, with added structural strength and safety measures in place.
What Locals Can Expect

This isn’t just about smoother roads it’s about progress. With easier access between the two districts, local trade, daily commutes, and emergency travel will all benefit.
Reduced congestion means less stress and more productivity for everyone using the route.
In a region where infrastructure development often lags behind demand, this bridge stands as a symbol of responsiveness and forward thinking. And for the people of Amethi and Rae Bareli, it’s a long-awaited relief that’s finally taking shape.
