The development of Ganga Expressway was approved in the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.The Ganga Expressway will be extended from the existing route from Meerut to Prayagraj and connected to Ghazipur via Mirzapur, Bhadohi, Varanasi, Chandauli.
This will also connect it to the Purvanchal Expressway, providing a new route to Western Uttar Pradesh and Bihar from the National Capital Region.
Ganga Expressway’s expansion
There is a plan to expand the Ganga Expressway to eight lanes in the future. The work of purchasing the necessary land for this has already been done. And that is why its dividers and rescue lanes are being designed in such a way that it can be converted into eight lanes in the future.
This project will not only increase traffic facilities but will also lead to regional development, employment generation and economic prosperity. The expansion of Ganga Expressway will also boost industrial and business activities.
Work is in progress to connect the expressway to other major roads in areas such as Khirni Mohiddinpur and Laharwan which will improve access to industrial areas.
The Chief Minister, who arrived to inspect the 3.50 km long airstrip built in Shahjahanpur on Sunday afternoon, announced the expansion of Ganga Expressway.
The chief minister said that the Ganga Expressway will be extended from Prayagraj to Ghazipur. He said that Haridwar will also be connected to Meerut by the Ganga Expressway. The chief minister said that a link expressway will also be built to connect the Ganga Expressway to Farrukhabad, which will further connect Bundelkhand.
He also said that to connect the Ganga Expressway, Shahjahanpur, Farrukhabad, Agra, Lucknow Link Expressway will also be constructed and an industrial hub will also be built on the side of the Ganga Expressway in Shahjahanpur, so that local people can get employment.
The Chief Minister said that when Bundelkhand will be connected by connecting Farrukhabad to Ganga Expressway, then industrial units will be established in Bundelkhand.
Industrial and economic impact
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister on Sunday landed at the helipad built on the Ganga Expressway by helicopter from Hardoi at 11.55 am.He then held a meeting with Finance Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna, MP Arun Sagar, Rajya Sabha member Mithilesh Kumar, MLAs Hariprakash Verma, Arvind Kumar Singh, Veer Vikram Singh, Chetram, Salona Kushwaha, MLC Dr. Sudhir Gupta and other representatives at the temporary camp.
The chief minister gave information about the Ganga Expressway in the meeting and then he also inspected the airstrip. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that a 3.50 km airstrip has been built on the Ganga Expressway in Shahjahanpur.
The Air Force fighter jets will rehearse on this runway on 2 and 3 April, which will be a proud moment. He said that this will be the first runway in the country where Air Force planes will be able to land even at night. About 250 CCTV cameras will be installed on both sides of the Air Force runway.
CM said that industrial areas will develop around it. Employment generation will increase. He said that the foundation stone of Ganga Expressway was laid by the Prime Minister in Shahjahanpur itself. Its construction will be completed by November 2025.
