The news of the notice issued by the Income Tax Department has created a stir in Aligarh city, where an income tax notice has been sent to a sanitation worker as well.

This incident is shocking because generally sanitation workers and people of such class do not come under the purview of income tax. This matter has raised questions on the functioning and monitoring of the Income Tax Department.

A notice of the Income Tax Department has been sent to a Safai Karamchari of Aligarh on the grounds that his income has been shown to be higher in the records of the department.

It is believed that the department has sent this notice on the basis of some financial transaction or purchase and sale of property in the name of the employee. However, the complete information in this matter has not been revealed. And now this Safai Karamchari is trying to interrogate the Income Tax Department officials.

Karan Kumar Valmiki and his family have appealed to the administration to investigate this matter in depth. He said that he is an ordinary laborer and has nothing to do with such a big turnover. He has sought help from the local administration, so that he can be taken out of this unnecessary trouble.

The city is in discussions in the entire state these days due to the notice of the Income Tax Department. This notice has also been sent by the Income Tax Department to such people whose salary is equal to the earnings of daily wage laborers.

The Income Tax Department has first issued a notice to a juice seller, then to a locksmith and now to a contract sweeper. This notice has been sent to him to give an account of his turnover of Rs 33 crore 88 lakh.

Karan Kumar Valmiki, son of Surajpal Valmiki, who lives in Chandaus town, works as a sweeper in the State Bank of India located in Khair tehsil. He has got this job through a contractor. Every month he gets Rs 15,000 as salary.

Earlier this salary was Rs 14,000, which has now increased to Rs 15,000. The sweeper and all his family members are stunned to see the notice. This sweeper received this notice on Monday evening.

When he returned home from his work as usual, the family members gave him this notice. He showed this notice to a lawyer known to him. When the lawyer read it, he said that the Income Tax Department has sent a notice to the sweeper to respond to the turnover of Rs 33.88 crore.

When the officials of Khair branch of State Bank of India were asked about this, they said that the sweeper is just a contractual employee and his income is very limited. They said that if the Income Tax Department has sent him a notice, then it must have happened due to some technical error or other transaction.

The sweeper says that when he received this notice, he got scared at first. Then he discussed this with some of his acquaintances. He also talked to other sweepers of the bank, but no one else had received any such notice.

The family also contacted local leaders on this subject. The family says that they will demand an investigation into this matter, so that it can be known how and why this notice was sent. The Income Tax Department says that the notice is only a part of the investigation.

He says that many times a large amount is deposited in a person’s bank account from an unknown source, which the department suspects. In such a situation, an attempt is made to find out where this amount came from and what is its source by sending a notice to the concerned person.

However, the sanitation worker has clarified that he does not have any large deposit nor does he have any bank account in which such a large amount has come. The department’s investigation in the case of the sanitation worker is still going on.

And it is not clear why the department sent the notice. The sanitation worker says that he is in no position to pay income tax and his income is very limited. He has faced mental stress due to such notices.
