Varanasi which we also know as Kashi traffic problem has been a big challenge for a long time.Due to the narrow lanes of the city, increasing population and large number of pilgrims, traffic jams occur frequently.
But now many important projects are underway to get rid of this problem. Which will bring relief to the people of Kashi.
Kashi will get relief from the hassle of traffic jam
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has laid the foundation stone of the country’s first public transport ropeway in Varanasi. The four-lane road project from Lahartara to Phulwaria will reduce the distance from this side of the Ganga river to the other side of the Varuna river.
With the completion of this project, a journey of one hour can now be completed in just 10 minutes. This road will be helpful in connecting Babatpur Airport and other important places.
With the widening of the road from Lahartara to BHU, Bhelupur via Sundarpur and the construction of flyovers at Manduadih crossing and Bhikharipur intersection, the traffic jam will end. There will also be service roads on both sides of the flyover.
A Y-shaped flyover will be constructed at Bhikharipur junction. With the construction of an elevated road from the District Education and Training Institute gate to the ring road in Sarnath, the journey will be completed in three minutes.
There is a way to reach Sarnath from the Naya Bazar Ring Road underpass via the Archaeological Survey of India and the railway line from Faridpur village. There is a situation of traffic jam sometimes due to population on both the roads, due to which the tourists visiting here face a lot of trouble.
Keeping this in mind, an elevated road will be built from Sarnath to the ring road. There is no way to get down anywhere in the middle.
A total of 14 pillars will be built in this flyover. Similarly, the length of the flyover to be built at Bhikharipur Tiraha at a cost of Rs 118.84 crore will be 1075 meters.
The width of the flyover here will be 10.50 meters while the width of the service lane will be 5.5 meters, a total of 18 pillars will be built here.
Towards a transport revolution in Varanasi
The work of the second phase of Varanasi’s ring road is going on at a fast pace. A 16 kilometer long road is being built in it. Which includes 13 underpasses and a bridge.
This will reduce the movement of heavy vehicles within the city, which will reduce the problem of traffic jam. Also, this road will help in connecting the outskirts of the city.
The flyover that rises near Bareka Gate will descend near a famous sweet shop on Sundarpur Road and on Chitaipur Road. At the same time, the temple situated at the intersection will also be beautified.
With the foundation stone of both the flyovers being laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Public Works Department has started planning to start the work soon. Now the revised budget of this route has become Rs 476.41 crore.
A 342 meter long flyover will be built at Manduadih crossing. The flyover will rise about 125 meters before the crossing and will descend before the gate of Banaras station. The width of the flyover being constructed at a cost of 56.73 crores will be 10.50 meters while the width of the service lane will be 5.5 meters.
A four-lane road is being constructed from Lahartara to the front of Vijaya Mall via Manduadih, Bhikharipur Tiraha, Sundarpur, Naria Tiraha, Lanka Chauraha, Ravindrapuri Colony. With that, traffic jams started occurring at Manduadih and Bhikharipur intersections.
When the traffic jam at Manduadih intersection lasted for three to five hours, the Commissionerate Police made several plans but failed every time.
