Babatpur Airport in Varanasi district of Uttar Pradesh, which is already an important airport, will now become even more modern and convenient. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to make big announcements regarding this airport during a grand event organized in Varanasi on April 11.
On this occasion, Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate many other important projects along with the upgradation of Babatpur Airport, which will accelerate the development of Varanasi and the surrounding area.

VaranasiBabatpur Airport, which was earlier capable of handling only one aircraft, will now be equipped with the capability to handle two aircraft simultaneously. This upgradation of the airport is an important step in the field of civil aviation.
This will lead to a major improvement in airline operations and passenger service. After the new improvement, parallel landing and take-off of two aircraft will be possible at Babatpur Airport. This will speed up passenger service and increase the number of incoming and outgoing flights.
After this upgrade, the capacity of the airport will also increase.Due to which Varanasi will get more connectivity. Babatpur Airport of Varanasi will now become a six-lane airport. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone for the construction of the six-lane tunnel to be built near Babatpur Airport on April 11.
Apart from this, PM Modi will also give gifts worth crores to the district.According to the officials of the Airport Authority, this will expand the runway and about two aircrafts will be able to land and take off at the airport simultaneously.
Currently, a total of about 45 aircrafts operate at the airport.After the construction of the tunnel, about 110 planes will be able to move in a day. Apart from this, there will be relief from traffic jams on the national highway.
VDA will build a mini stadium in Shivpur with Rs 6.15 crore.Yoga pavilion, walking track, children’s play area, open gym, indoor game hall, cricket net, hockey and football field will be constructed here.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be seen at 35 different crossings in the city. Some of these artworks have been made at Phulwaria, Sikraul, Central Jail Road. Hockey stick, Kathak dancer, Nandi-lion, bull fight, Tejas, Rudraksha, Bodhi tree, replica of Varanasi ghats will be installed at these crossings.
In the expansion of the airport, NH-21 (Varanasi-Lucknow National Highway) from Babatpur Chauraha and Basni to Pura Raghunath will cease to exist. It will become a part of the airport’s runway. A six-lane tunnel will be built in its place.Its length will be 450 meters.
For this, a four-lane approach road will be built by giving a curve a little ahead of Babatpur flyover,which will go till Pura Raghunath. 652.64 crores will be spent on this 2.4 km long project. In which only the construction of the tunnel will cost 325 crores. For this, 10.50 hectares of land of Pura Raghunath, Sohna and Basni has been acquired.
The VDA administration will carry out development work worth Rs 12 crore in the Transport Nagar to be built in Mohansarai. This includes parking for more than 100 trucks. There will also be dormitory facilities for truck drivers. For security purposes, CCTV cameras will be monitored.Warehouses, shopping complexes, restaurants will be built.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also lay the foundation stone for the renovation and beautification of 11 parks in the city.Ashok Nagar Block A and Block B, two parks in Mahadev Nagar Colony, Officers Colony, Patrakarpuram Colony, four parks in Kanshiram Yojana, Shankarpuri Park in Birdopur will be renovated.
