Thousands of Shikshamitras in Uttar Pradesh received a significant gift from the Yogi government on Friday. The administration has given them permission to go back to the schools where they were initially hired.

Those Shikshamitras who were transferred to distant blocks following adjustment will particularly benefit from this decision. Many used to travel 80 to 100 kilometers to teach in other towns and cities. They will now have the ability to teach in a local school or in their own village.

1.43 lakh For a long period, Shikshamitras demanded that they be returned to their own schools. Now that the government has accepted their demand, they will be able to receive mental health aid as well as travel and lodging fees.

Currently, Shikshamitras won’t have to rent a home or travel great distances every day. Particularly for female Shikshamitras, this choice will be particularly advantageous because it will allow them to work while remaining close to their house and in-laws.

On January 3, 2025, the state government issued a government order in this respect. Following this, Kanchan Verma, the Director General of School Education, requested permission from the government to take more action.

The government has now approved the transfer of Shikshamitras employed by the state’s council primary schools back to their respective institutions for the first phase.

State General Secretary Sushil Yadav of the Uttar Pradesh Primary Education Mitra Sangh has thanked State Basic Education Minister Sandeep Singh and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. In addition, Shrichand Sharma, Teacher MLC, and Teachers Cell Convenor have been thanked.

Sushil Yadav stated regarding this issue that “This decision fulfills the long-standing demand of Shikshamitras and it will especially benefit women, who will now be able to teach children while staying close to their families.”
