UP: E-rickshaw drivers and passengers both are disquited, surrounded nagar palika!

The anger of e-rickshaw drivers erupted in the city when they raised their voice against the illegal collection of money being done on a daily basis. The rickshaw drivers allege that money is forcibly collected from them in connivance with the traffic police and local officials. And if they protest, they are threatened with challan or confiscation of rickshaw.

E-rickshaw drivers angry over illegal recovery

E-rickshaw drivers are the lifeline of the city. They provide low cost travel facility to thousands of people every day. But if their hard earned money is forcibly taken away, then this is not only injustice but will also slow down the pace of development. Now there is a need for accountability and strict action by the administration.

Corruption still remains one of the biggest social and administrative crises in India. At every level, from panchayats to parliament, from schools to government offices, corruption continues to hollow out the roots of the country.

Even though slogans of Digital India, transparency and good governance are being given, the ground reality still revolves around ‘pay money and get work’. The government has started many schemes and portals to stop corruption. Like Lokpal, digital payment system etc.

But unless the people in the system themselves work honestly, change is difficult. At the social level too, literacy, awareness and moral education is needed so that the common man understands his rights and is not afraid to raise his voice.

Siege of the municipality

Corruption is not just a transaction of money, but an invisible termite that hinders the progress of the country. Unless it is eradicated from its roots, the real benefits of any scheme will not reach the needy. The time has come for all of us, the public, the administration and the government to come together and resolve to eradicate it.

In Sultanpur, UP, the anger of e-rickshaw drivers erupted against illegal collection. On Monday, e-rickshaw drivers protested strongly against illegal collection. The drivers took out a procession from the bus station to the Nagar Palika gate and shouted slogans against the Nagar Palika administration.

E-rickshaw drivers staged a sit-in protest in front of the office of Nagar Palika President Praveen Agarwal. In this protest led by Congress leader Varun Mishra, the drivers placed their three main demands before the administration, including immediate stop to the illegal collection being made from e-rickshaw drivers.

The contract of Pappu Egg, who is in charge of collection, should be cancelled immediately. Collection should not be done again without the written consent of the drivers. The drivers say that the agitation will continue until their demands are met.
