The effort to build a green highway in Uttar Pradesh from Kanpur to Kabrai is making headway. This highway’s detailed project report, or DPR, has been completed and is awaiting the government’s final approval and money.
According to officials, this project should be approved by June 25. Several days ago, IAS Vishal Chauhan and a senior Road Transport Ministry officer visited Jhansi.
Along the route, he met with representatives of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to go over the full plan and inspected the proposed highway’s site.
This green, four-lane roadway will stretch 112 kilometers from Kanpur to Kabrai (Mahoba). An estimated Rs 3700 crore would be spent on this. The National Planning Group (NPG) gave this project its approval in March 2025.
This will pass through 96 communities in 4 districts
The 96 villages in the districts of Kanpur Nagar, Fatehpur, Hamirpur, and Mahoba would be traversed by the green highway’s path. People will find traveling easier and the Kanpur-Sagar route will see less traffic pressure as a result of the highway’s construction.
According to the NHAI project director, “DPR has been sent, and it is anticipated that the budget will be approved by June 25.” The construction procedure will then go more quickly.
This highway is going to be constructed along the Bundelkhand Expressway. The central government made the decision to construct this green highway in 2021, running parallel to the Kanpur to Sagar National Highway all the way to Kabrai in the Mahoba district.
