In recent months, there has been a lot of resentment among passengers due to the cancellation of many trains by the Indian Railways. Especially students, elderly and daily commuters are facing serious problems due to these cancellations.The Railway Department has started several projects to expand the infrastructure, due to which some trains have been temporarily cancelled.
Some suggestions for solution
Passengers get information about the cancellation of trains only a few hours before their journey. Due to which they face difficulty in making alternative arrangements. Due to lack of buses or other transport options on some routes, passengers have to face a lot of trouble.
Due to cancelled trains, the crowd increases in other trains. This causes inconvenience to the passengers. Keeping in mind the inconvenience of the passengers, the Railway Department has assured to review the cancelled trains and make alternative arrangements.
Passengers are facing inconvenience due to cancellation of trains, but it is also important that the Railway Department works in a planned manner keeping in mind the expansion of infrastructure and security reasons.
Passengers should also be informed from time to time so that they can make alternative arrangements. On Friday, the 14th day of railway’s third line and yard remodeling, more than 50 trains including Durg Express and Kamakhya Express will remain canceled.
On Thursday, 32 trains were cancelled, while 55 were affected. Digital illiteracy in rural areas prevents passengers from using the portal or app. Travelling by train is still one of the most accessible and economical modes of transport.
But until the basic problems are not resolved, this facility will remain an inconvenience for lakhs of people. There is a need for the railway department to listen to the problems of passengers on priority and take steps keeping in mind the public interest.
Lack of security, technical issues
Indian Railways is called the lifeline of the country. Every day lakhs of people travel by train. Some for work, some for studies, and some to meet their loved ones. However, this journey sometimes becomes a tiring and stressful experience instead of being convenient.
Even today, railway passengers have to face serious problems in many parts of the country. Cancellation of trains without prior notice or running late by hours is a big problem for passengers.
Students going for exams, working people and passengers travelling for medical reasons face a lot of trouble. Due to overcrowding in general and sleeper coaches, passengers have to travel standing.
Lack of transparency in the reservation system and the activity of brokers in Tatkal tickets is also a serious issue. The cleanliness of toilets, dustbins and availability of water is not satisfactory in many stations and trains.
Lack of cleaning staff in long distance trains causes inconvenience to passengers. There have been many complaints regarding the safety of women and elderly people, especially in night trains.
Theft, pickpocketing and activities of miscreants outside the station also remain a challenge for the safety of passengers. Many passengers do not have access to online booking, live train status and platform information.
