Major Elevated Track Project Start Soon in UP

The Mandhana-Anwarganj elevated railway project, which is going to give a new direction to the railway infrastructure of Kanpur located in UP, has now started rapidly.

Under this project, the grand railway station proposed to be built in the name of Bharat Ratna and former Prime Minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee near Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University (CSJMU) will also be connected to the metro network.

The total length of this elevated track will be 16.25 km, the cost of which has been estimated to be around Rs 995 crore. The Railway Department has completed the tender process for this ambitious project.

The tender for the design and construction work of the station will be opened on 16 April 2025. The project is targeted to be completed in the next two years.As soon as the construction work starts, rail service will be started till Mandhana. Under this project, Kalyanpur and Rawatpur railway stations will be removed.

After this, people will get relief from traffic jams at 18 railway crossings, including the busiest areas like Jarib Chowki. It is estimated that about 50 lakh people will get direct benefit from this.

The process of demolishing 87 illegal constructions coming in the way of the elevated track is being started by a joint committee of the district administration, municipal corporation and public works department.

The concerned departments have been ordered to take swift action so that there is no hindrance in the construction work.

Divisional commissioner held a three hour long review meeting

Divisional Commissioner Shri K. Vijayendra Pandian conducted a detailed review with officials of Railways, Administration, Municipal Corporation and PWD in a high level meeting at the camp office.

He gave clear instructions that this elevated railway track from Anwarganj to Mandhana should be started as soon as possible, so that traffic between north and south Kanpur can be smooth and urban development can be accelerated.

In the meeting, Metro Project Director Arvind Meena was directed to coordinate with the railway officials and prepare an action plan to connect the Atal station and the metro station to be built in front of the university with CSJM University and SPM via a sky walk.

Long distance trains will change their route

During the construction work, more than 50 long distance trains running on Anwarganj-Kasganj railway section will be operated through alternative routes so that the traffic is not affected.

Divisional Commissioner Pandian made it clear that the project will be completed within the stipulated time frame at all costs. Negligence will not be tolerated at any level.

Municipal Commissioner, Chief Engineer of PWD and officials of all major departments were present in the meeting.
