The recent storm and rain weather in the Awadh region of the state has caused widespread devastation. Due to strong winds and torrential rain, trees fell at many places, electric poles broke, and houses were damaged. Many people have also lost their lives in this natural disaster.
11 people died due to storm and rain
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has instructed the officials of all the districts to expedite the relief work and provide immediate assistance to the affected families.
He said that a detailed report should be submitted to the government after assessing the loss of life, animal loss and crop damage caused in this disaster.In many districts of Awadh, sudden storm, rain and hailstorm on Thursday evening not only damaged the crops but also killed 11 people.
Five people each died in Barabanki and Ayodhya and one in Amethi.The wheat crop fell in the fields and the harvested loads got wet. Traffic was disrupted due to falling of trees and poles at many places.
Electricity supply to hundreds of villages was also affected.Three women who had gone to the field to harvest wheat hid under a tractor-trolley when a storm came. The trolley got unbalanced due to the heavy storm and rain and overturned on all three, all three died.
In another incident, a woman who had gone to harvest wheat took shelter under a tin shed to avoid the storm, a child was already standing there.The tin shed along with the wall fell on them. The woman died on the spot, while the child is injured.
Apart from this, in another incident, an old woman died due to the collapse of a boundary wall. A woman died due to bad weather like lightning in Amethi.The Meteorological Department has issued an alert of thunderstorm and rain in 10 districts of the state for the next 24 hours.
Citizens have been appealed to remain alert and take necessary measures.This natural disaster is a serious warning for the people of the state to be alert to weather changes and follow safety measures.
Huge damage to crops
The district administration has started relief work in many affected areas. A farmer died due to lightning in Hamirpur district. After which the administration has announced compensation.
Farmers are now demanding compensation for their ruined crops.Bhupendra Raja, a farmer from Lalitpur district, said, “Politicians come to ask for votes, not to see the farmers.” Tribal women farmers like Anguri Sahariya have also expressed concern about their destroyed pea crop.
In Barabanki, two children died due to the collapse of a tin shed and pillar of a poultry farm. In another incident of a tin shed collapse, a woman and a young man died. Apart from this, an old woman died due to the collapse of a wall.
On the other hand, five women died in accidents at different places due to strong storm in Ayodhya. Due to hailstorm in Barabanki, Bahraich, Shravasti, Gonda, farmers are worried. Mango crop has also been affected. The weather suddenly changed in the afternoon.First there was a strong storm, then heavy rain started with lightning.
At some places there was hailstorm along with rain. This situation is very difficult for the farmers. And they need immediate help.Here too, more than 50 percent of crops have been damaged due to hailstorm and rain. In Bijnor district, wheat crop fell in the fields due to strong winds.
While in Muzaffarnagar, hailstorm affected the crops.Here about 50 to 60 percent of Rabi crops have been destroyed. In Lalitpur district, the pea crop has been completely ruined. While the pea crop of tribal women farmers like Anguri Sahariya has been destroyed by hailstorm.
