During the construction of the third railway line in the state, construction material and illegal constructions have been removed using backhoe loaders. This has created panic among the local people.
Full details of the incident
Illegal encroachment on railway land is being removed to lay the third line between Prayagraj and Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Railway on the Howrah-Delhi rail section in Prayagraj district of Uttar Pradesh.
The railway has completely demolished 6 illegal constructions along the track in Azad Nagar of South Malaka using a backhoe loader. This strict action has created panic among the people living in and around the locality. Now the local people here are rapidly preparing to pack up their belongings.
During this time, the railway had issued a notice to the people who had been doing illegal construction on the land of Azad Nagar railway station for many years to vacate the land, but no one paid heed to it. Notices were also pasted on the houses.
People were also appealed to take air around their construction and goods kept there but instead of following this, the Railway Department has now taken strict action against all of them due to which the people living there are disappointed and angry.
Administration’s response
During this work, the team that arrived in the morning first gave people enough time to remove their belongings and illegal encroachments and as they did not talk after 2:00 PM, the illegal encroachments were removed and the cleaning work was completed within a few hours.
On the other hand, Amit Kumar Singh of North Central Railway Prayagraj Division said that any kind of illegal occupation of railway land will not be tolerated. The Railway Department has also sent notices several times.
But despite this, when no cooperation was received from the local people, it became necessary to take action. The railway department was also forced to take this action, the responsibility of which is on those who had illegally occupied the land.
If the local people here do not listen to the railway department, then this action will continue in a phased manner. He further said that in such a situation, whoever has illegally occupied the railway land, should remove it himself otherwise legal action will be taken against him for which he will be responsible.
