Jhakarkati bus station will be rejuvenated

Kanpur’s biggest and busiest Jhakarkati bus stand will now be transformed into a modern one keeping in mind the needs of the modern times.

The reconstruction process will start within 3 months and it will be developed on a public-private partnership (PPP) model. Once the new bus stand is ready, it will become the most advanced and well-equipped bus terminal in Uttar Pradesh.

Buses will run from temporary locations

Until the new bus stand is built, the bus running from Jhakarkati will be operated from temporary locations. Temporary bus stands will be built at Rawatpur, Singhner City, around the Papers Factory and some other selected places, from where bus facilities will be provided to the passengers.

More than 1000 buses ply every day

Jhakarkati depot is one of the busiest depots not only in Kanpur but in the entire state. Every day around 1050 bus depart from here for various districts and states. This is the reason why it became necessary to equip it with new technology and better facilities.

What new things will you find at the bus stand?

  • Waiting area, food court and kids zone on the ground floor.
  • A part will be developed as a mall and multiplex
  • There will also be five star hotels and super specialty clinics

  • A separate building for bus drivers and employees and office space for 100 people will also be ready

Expansion of bus services

Apart from Uttar Pradesh, buses running from Jhakarkati go to states like Delhi, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. It provides connectivity to cities like Prayagraj, Lucknow, Chitrakoot, Jhansi, Gonda, Bahraich, Mau and Azamgarh.

Metro connections and transport hubs

The new bus stand will also be connected to the metro station in future. Separate sheds will be built on its sides for buses to stand, there will be separate sheds for long distance buses and local routes so that the crowd is reduced.

Mega project worth Rs 143 crore

The entire project will cost an estimated Rs 143 crore. Jhakarkati bus stand is going to emerge not only as a transport centre but also as a mini-commercial hub. If you also travel from Jhakarkati, then in the next few months you will have to plan your journey according to temporary depots.
