Overbridge Construction

The Defense Industrial Corridor project in Kanpur, UP has now reached a new turn. The state government and UPEIDA have acquired a total of 234 hectares of land in and around Ramsari village, Ghatampur sugar mill in Ghatampur tehsil in the second phase of expansion of this ambitious project.Construction of infrastructure like roads and other industrial facilities will soon begin on this land.

Earlier, in the first phase, there was a plan to acquire 186 hectares of land of Gopalpur, Daulatpur and Mohipur villages of Saadh area, but due to objections from farmers, the plan could not move forward.

Farmers sent complaints to the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister through the online portal, following which the government had to amend the plan and select new locations.

In the comprehensive development review meeting held on April 17, 2025 under the chairmanship of Assembly Speaker Satish Mahana, it was told that 83.89 hectares of land has been identified under Ghatampur Sugar Mill in Ghatampur area.

Along with this, 127.62 hectares of private land and 22.87 hectares of government land of Ramsari village have also been acquired for this project. In total, 234 hectares of land has been acquired so far for the second phase.

The land acquisition work in the first phase of the Defense Corridor project was done in March 2023. Adani Group has started its first defense production unit in an area of 250 acres by investing around Rs 1500 crore in this phase.

Advanced weapons like light combat aircraft, modern cannons, AK-47, carbines, pistols, drones, bullets and UAVs are being manufactured in this unit. Apart from this, work is going on on two more units by the Adani Group, in which about Rs 3000 crore more will be invested.

At present, around 25 thousand people are getting employment directly and indirectly through this project and in the coming years this figure is expected to reach one lakh to one and a half lakh.

Being adjacent to Saadh-Ghatampur road and Kanpur-Sagar highway, this entire land is considered very suitable from the point of view of transportation and goods transportation. This land will not only strengthen the Kanpur node, but will also strengthen the country’s defense preparations.

Defence infrastructure is also increasing in Bundelkhand

Apart from Kanpur, the plan for the defense corridor is also progressing rapidly in Bundelkhand’s Chitrakoot area. Here the work of land acquisition for making drone missiles, military vehicles, special weapons and tanks has almost been completed.

Investment proposals worth more than 6 thousand crore rupees have come in Chitrakoot. Along with this, the construction of the defense corridor in Jhansi is also going on at a fast pace, which will take India to new heights in self-reliant defense production in the coming time.An effort is being made to give new impetus to this project by creating a balance between farmers, government and companies.
