Update on Gorakhpur Link Expressway, will be able to travel from this date

To make travel between Gorakhpur- Lucknow in UP become easier, the construction of Gorakhpur Link Expressway is in its final stage. This expressway is 91.35 km long and starts from Jaitpur in Gorakhpur and connects to Purvanchal Expressway at Salarpur in Azamgarh district. The total cost of this project is ₹7,283.28 crores in which land acquisition cost is also included.

Gorakhpur Link Expressway will complete by May 15

With the opening of the Gorakhpur Link Expressway, the travelling time between Gorakhpur- Lucknow will reduced to about three and a half hours, that earlier tooks approximately 6 hours. This expressway will pass from Gorakhpur, Sant Kabir Nagar, Ambedkar Nagar and Azamgarh districts, which will improve the connectivity of these areas.

It is being claimed that the construction work of Gorakhpur Link Expressway will be completed by May 15 2025. Commissioner Anil Dhingra and District Magistrate Krishna Karunesh on Tuesday done the site inspection of the bridge under construction at Kamhariya Ghat of Ghaghra River.

It has not been formally inaugurated yet, but traffic has started two and a half months before. By the opening of this expressway, the journey from Gorakhpur to Lucknow will be completed in just 3.30 to 4 hours.

The distance from Lucknow to Gorakhpur via Ayodhya is about 30 to 40 km more than the distance from Lucknow via the expressway, but due to there being no obstruction, will take less time. During the inspection of the site, the implementing agency said that work is going on at a fast speed and it will be completed soon.

On this, commissioner directed to finish all the remaining construction work within 15 to 20 days. He said that the work of changing the flow of the river’s water will continue, but the construction work related to the bridge and road should be completed within the given time limit. This expressway is expected to be inaugurated in the second fortnight of May.

Gorakhpur Link Expressway will starts from Jaitpur near Sahjanwan and connected to Purvanchal Expressway at Salarpur in Azamgarh district. This 91.35 km long expressway is constructed at a cost of Rs 7283 crores that will directly give benefits to the people of Gorakhpur, Ambedkarnagar, Sant Kabirnagar, Azamgarh districts.

Reduction in travelling time, construction status

During the program organized in Gorakhpur last month on the completion of eight years of the government, the Chief Minister had also indicated that traffic will soon start on the expressway. A grand inauguration program will be organized for this.

During the inspection, the Commissioner directed to coordinate with the concerned departments and remove the obstacles coming in between the construction work.While directing the concerned department he said that the work should be completed in a timely manner and with high quality. If any negligence is found in the construction, then strict action will be taken by fixing accountability of the concerned person.

On this occasion, MD UPDA Sanjay Agarwal, Additional District Magistrate (Administration) Purushottam Das Gupta, Project Manager of Setu Nigam AK Singh and many other officials were present. The inauguration program of Gorakhpul Link Expressway will be grand.

It is planned to be organised on the Gorakhpur-Azamgarh border where Prime Minister Narendra Modi or Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari can inaugurate the expressway in the presence of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

According to officials of UP Expressway Industrial Development Authority, about 98% of the work on this project has been completed. The clearing and grubbing work in the main carriageway is 100% complete and the soil related work is also 100% complete.

Now only the construction of some structures is left. Which will be completed soon. The Gorakhpur Link Expressway is likely to be inaugurated by May 15.Due to which travel between Gorakhpur and Lucknow will become even simpler and faster. This project will not only improve traffic but will also contribute to regional development and economic growth.
