The traffic department has announced to implement zone-wise sticker system to improve the traffic system in the congested areas of the city.Under this new system, vehicles will now be given stickers of different colours according to their operational area. This will decide which vehicle can enter which zone.
Initiatives taken to improve traffic management in the area
The zone wise sticker system is an effective step which will help in controlling traffic jams, pollution and chaos. If the public cooperates in this scheme, then in the coming time the traffic of the city will become even more organized and smooth.
On Friday, the traffic police issued zone-wise red, blue, yellow, orange and purple stickers for e-rickshaws running in the five zones of Gorakhpur city. E-rickshaw drivers can get the stickers for Rs 10 each from Jyoti Flex Printers’ shop located at Taramandal.
Apart from this, you can also get it printed yourself as per the prescribed sample. All the drivers plying in the urban area will have to get the zone number sticker pasted on the front and back of their e-rickshaws by April 18. E-rickshaws plying without this will be seized.
If in future, e-rickshaw drivers want to change the zone, they will apply to the traffic department. The place for pasting the sticker will be on the upper side of the front windshield and in the middle at the back.
Relief from regular jams and chaos
In view of the ever increasing traffic jams in various areas of the city. Illegal parking and road accidents, the administration and the traffic department have jointly made a plan to improve the traffic system.
Under this scheme, special arrangements will be made near main crossings, market areas, schools and hospitals. SP Traffic Sanjay Kumar has said that five zones have been determined in the city with the railway station as the center.
Regarding this, announcements are being made through PA system from April 11 that you should drive your e-rickshaw only in the selected zones. Very soon zone wise registration will be done in the traffic department on the basis of applications through the union.
Only those e-rickshaws whose records and fitness are complete will be allowed to ply in the zone. Now smart sensors are being installed in traffic lights. These will decide the signal timing according to the number of vehicles.
This will improve the flow of traffic.Strict action will be taken against illegal vehicles parked on lanes and main roads. The system of fines and wheel clamping is also being implemented.
One-way traffic system is being implemented in congested areas. So that there is relief from traffic jams and road accidents also decrease.
