The temporary repair work of Chandrashekhar Azad Phaphamau bridge in Prayagraj district of UP has been cancelled for a few years due to lack of better alternatives for road safety and traffic. This bridge located on the river Ganga is more than 50 years old.
After the construction of the six-lane bridge beyond Phaphamau is completed, this bridge will be closed for repairs. At present, work is going on on this bridge, although the repair work is still going on, but commuters will have to wait for when it will be completed.
According to the information received, traffic has been affected in many other districts including Sultanpur, Prayagraj, Pratapgarh, Lucknow.The proposal for the repair of the bridge was sent by the Public Works Department, the working agency, for approval under the chairmanship of the DM. The working agency of Ghaziabad was nominated to repair the bridge.
This work was to start before Holi but due to some reasons, this work was postponed. Meanwhile, the Yogi Adityanath government of Uttar Pradesh has given the message of expansion and strengthening of the expressway network in the state.These initiatives will be considered as important steps towards ensuring road safety, better connectivity and industrial development in the country and the state.
The biggest problem of this bridge was that two-three types of sounds were coming from the expansion joint. But this problem was fixed from time to time, but this problem was happening again and again.
This time the Public Works Department has also fulfilled its responsibility with great responsibility. The department has said that getting the bridge repaired temporarily will be the first priority of the department.
During this time, road traffic will be disrupted for 25 to 30 days. He further said that vehicle owners should choose other routes for their destination. People walking on the road were also told that earlier this bridge was to be repaired in the year 2022.
But the repair work was being delayed for many years as there was no temporary alternative for traffic in the area. Meanwhile, the PWD department has prepared its equipment to repair the bridge.On the other hand, the target has been set to complete about 75 to 80 percent of the work of the six-lane bridge being built on the Ganga river. Seeing this work, the construction agencies said that the bridge is sure to be built by the end of December this year.
