The Odisha government has made complete preparations to ensure an incident-free Jagannath Puri Rath Yatra.
Jagannath Rath Yatra, also called Shri gundicha yatra, is a major Hindu festival celebrated every year in Odisha. Now the Rath Yatra will take place on 27 June 2025, to see which a huge crowd of people has gathered.
This Rath Yatra is celebrated like a festival which is celebrated on Dwitiya as people believe that during this time the brightness of the moon increases which is celebrated very early in the morning.
Suryanarayan Rath Sharma (Scholar on Jagannath culture) told IANS that “this yatra is the oldest yatra in the whole world”. It is believed that by performing this yatra, Lord Jagannath himself comes to give darshan and whoever gets to see him, attains salvation.

In this yatra, lord Jagannath along with his brother Balabhadra and sister Subhadra is preparing to go to Gundicha temple and a huge crowd gathers to see this.This yatra is taken to Gundicha temple which is about 3 km away and a large number of people participate in it and they go to Gundicha temple while dancing, singing and eating the food of the lord.
Siddharth Shankar, collector of Puri said that we are fully prepared for this yatra. Good arrangements have been made for the large number of people who will gather there and care has also been taken to ensure that no untoward incident takes place.
He also said that we are assured that the pilgrimage of Lord Jagannath will be safely carried out till Gundicha temple.The Odisha government has deployed police officers and an integrated command-and-control system for the security of this yatra.
Along with this, 275 CCTV cameras have been installed across Konark, which will keep a heavy eye on the people gathered there.Like every year, this year also it is assumed that around 8 to 10 thousand people will participate in this yatra. Keeping this in view, the state government has deployed police personnel and home guards in large numbers.
